The following are the items that must be included, but not limited to, on your team's Wiki Pages. These will be pages that you will link to the VITAL VOCABULARY IS VALUABLE.
On separate pages create a layout that is appealing and attractive to your peers. This page should include the name of the term that you are assigned to research. You can work ahead on the terms or work on them as they are assigned with the assignment. Be sure to name your pages - The Term you are identifying (Mean, Median, Mode, etc...) so it is easy to locate these as we create the Visual Dictionary for our classroom Vital Vocabulary is Valuable project :)
The Term - this will be the title of your page
The definition
Part of speech
A synonym and/or an antonym
Use the term in a complete sentence(s)
An image(s) taken from the web OR take a picture using your iPad or classroom digital camera (Must get permission to use your cell phone)
-For example: This could be a picture that shows application of the term. You may jazz up your pages with images that make the page attractive, but remember to keep to the term...don't wander off adding fancy or distracting photos.
A real-world example of the term being used in action
- For example: This could be a video that you find, a video you create, or a story that explains how it is used in
the real world.
How you design the layout of each page is your team's choice. I have a visual for you here that will help you get started. This is one taken from some students that created a visual dictionary for a Geometry unit. Click on the document below to take a look. I think middle school students can make this even better! :)
After you have finished viewing this document each team member will need to go to # 4) Classroom Discussion Questions and comment on the first post listed under the conversation tab (looks like two comment clouds). There you will locate all discussion questions to get our classroom discussions going! WHAT DO YOU THINK? is your first responsibility to take care of today. Others will be assigned as we make our way through this project and will be stated in the announcement's page. Each week your team should respond to one DQ.
